Brace yourself, winter is coming!
The City has announced its new electricity tariffs for 2012/13, and they can be found here
Some key points:
The average tariff increase across all tariff categories is 11%
High consuming households will be paying R1.40/kWh for each unit over 600kWh (ouch! – that’s an 18.7% increase)
The net metering tariff (or rather small scale embedded generation tariff) is as follows:
Daily charge: R9.83/day
Energy cost: 91.69c/kWh
Seriously, time to don a jumper. Energy efficiency and energy conservation not looking too bad an option now is it?
